Services Offered

Treatment at The Right Step is based on the theories of the Model of Human Occupation,
Sensory Integration, Neuro-Developmental Therapy, and Motor Learning.

We focus on those treatments that naturally incorporate healthy body movement, exercise, relaxation, and are found to impact the "whole" person (socially, emotionally, mentally, and physically) in a positive manner:

  • Hippotherapy: Treatment with the help of the horse. See Hippotherapy Or Therapeutic Riding page for details.

  • Myofascial Release: Offered as a pre-hippotherapy treatment, home program exercise, and during hippotherapy with pediatric clients.

  • Therapeutic Listening®: Therapeutic Listening® is a growing area to help with sensory integration, self-regulation, attention, learning, coordination and timing. Rebecca Cook, OTR has received the training to offer our clients the specially modulated music CD's and listening protocol during hippotherapy sessions and as a home program.

  • Therapeutic Riding Lessons: Horseback-riding lessons are offered exclusively in private 1:1 adapted sessions and are limited to individuals discharged from our hippotherapy treatment.

  • "Cowboy Up": A summer experience for special kids, "Cowboy Up" programming includes 8 fun-filled hippotherapy sessions, June through August. Trained and credentialed OT's (and PT's or Speech Therapists as available) provide therapy with the help of a horse.

  • Therapeutic Driving: Sitting balance, trunk strength, perceptual skills, and upper extremity coordination can all be addressed in a unique fashion utilizing a trained driving horse and a specially adapted wheelchair cart or carriage.

  • Additional Individualized Home Programs: Home programs are tailored to each individual's needs. We can assist with Developmental activities and exercises, Therapeutic Listening® Programs, the Wilbarger Brushing Protocol, a Sensory Integration "diet", and environmental modification suggestions. A "LENDING LIBRARY" is also available and includes many valuable resource books, videos, tapes, and therapy equipment.
